On January 15, 2019, not even a full month after we got engaged, we were hit with our first trial as Fiance’ & Fiancee’. Early that morning, I went outside to warm my car up for work and I slipped on a patch of ice. Consequently, I ended up with a broken fibula bone and shifted ankle joints. After the swelling decreased I had surgery on January 21, 2019 to insert seven screws and a steel plate to help mend the fracture. This was my very first surgery and the recovery was long and hard, but God blessed me tremendously when He gave me Nicky (Matthew). He never left my side prior to or after my surgery. He made sure I was comfortable, fed, and properly medicated from January until I returned to work part time in March. You don’t realize how necessary your leg or any limb is until you are unable to use it. I couldn’t even get to the bathroom by myself and it was maybe 3 steps away from my room. And despite how dependent I had become throughout this time, Nicky NEVER complained about helping me, in fact, he would often tell me I shouldn’t be trying to do certain things on my own just because I didn’t want to bother him. We’ve endured quite a bit of sickness/injuries throughout our 8 years together but this one was a little more serious, however, it just continues to affirm all of the reasons that I would and will continually say yes to be with him for the rest of my life and I know he would and will continue to do the same. No matter the obstacle, as long as we are facing it together we can’t be stopped.
